Friday DT Showcase

Hello everyone and happy Friday to you!
Do you have any plans this weekend?  Up for some crafting?
Better yet, how about have a tea party and join the CCM gang?  Hehe!

Melissa

"This little group of party animals just makes me giggle.  I loved them from the minute I saw them in the new September Release at Chi Chi Memories.  I wanted to keep it the card simple with all the activity taking place with the animals. I did use tiny letter stickers to spell out HAPPY in their banner flags.  Colored with Copic Markers."

Kim

"I love the new Sept. set called It's Party Time. They are perfect for those special occasions. I am using Candace for this birthday card. I stayed with various shades of pink and red for her outfit. I die cut some flourish and flowers for the embellishment. I embossed the flowers to add texture and added a rhinestone brad for the center of each flower. I also embossed the red cardstock with a heart embossing folder. The banner is freehand then I used 3-D foam tape to pop up the image and sentiment."

Karen

"This week, I decided to play with the adorable animals in this month's new release.  These cuties definitely looked like they were ready for a party, so I decided to use the banner as the perfect spot for the sentiment.  You could use a different word or a name to customize the image for the recipient.  What a great stamp for all sorts of celebrations!"

Marcee

"Isn't this new release adorable!? It was really hard for me to choose which image I wanted to use for my first card. I kept my card CAS as usual, but decided to try something different and acutally punch into my card and layer paper on the inside.I colored the image with Prisma Pencils in Fall/Winter type colors and then used 2 different patterned Christmas papers from MME. I thought this image would make a nice dinner invite and depending on the colors you chose-it could really be for any time of year."

Just a reminder, you still have time to play along the challenge.

"I LOVE this grouping of animals announcing the party that they are having!  I colored them each with my Copic markers and then backed the image with coordinating pattern papers from My Minds Eye.  I used rubons for the letters on the banner.  I think this card will be great to use to invite some friends over for an end of summer backyard party!"

Katherine

"This week I used the cake image from the September stamp release Party Time. I needed a birthday card for one of my favorite little girls and this was the perfect image. I love how it looks colored with shades of purple, and I used a bit of Silver Smooch to add some glimmer. I wish the picture did it justice - it certainly does shine!"

Kerry

"I hope you are ready for a party!  I know for sure these party animals are!  Why not, join the fun!!!
For this card, I used the super fun surprise collection from Bo Bunny.  It's perfect for this birthday bash.  And I colored this adorable image with copic markers, I decorated the party hats with stickles, and a sentiment."

September new release & welcome our September/October guest DTs!!

Hope everyone is having an awesome weekend. We can't wait to share our September new release stamp set to you -- PARTY TIME!

Party invitation cards are one of the most popular type of cards that we scrapbookers love to make! These cute digis from the new set will sure make your projects more eye catching!

Candace is dressed in a "Alice in wonderland look alike" dress, with a teacup hat! Jordy is so handsome with a tuxedo on and with his styled hair, ready to serve you a cup of tea! We are happy to introduce 2 new characters in the CCM family - Bon Bon the rabbit and Peppy the puppy!! And last but not least - a beautiful cake for a party is a must!

And now...we are delighted to have Ria Montefalcon & Tarah Demerchant join Chi Chi Memories as Guest DTs. These two talented ladies have superb cute creations! Lets start looking at the ones they have made for this week.

"I did an invitation set using the group digi, preparing for the party. I colored them with Promarkers but the inside envelope were colored with colored pencils, Promarkers will bleed in the envelope so I just used the pencils to mimic the same color as the inside invite. I did the text layout myself using illustrator but its also possible to use MS Word, it may take a little more time to do layout there but possible.
The background pattern papers were from Sarah Hurley All Sewn digi scrapbook kit and the strip of running flowers at the bottom of the invite is a fabric tape. The flowers in the fabric tape looks similar to the background papers I used."

"I loved doing this 6x6 layout because my 4 year old helped me.  It was so much fun to paper piece the girl in order to create a fun picture for the "T".  I hope you enjoy this."

Have a wonderful day!

xoxo,
Cass & Nat

Tuesday DT showcase

Hello CCM friends, hope you are having a fantastic week!

We are back to show a few cards created by our awesome DTs.

"This week I used the freebie Hello Girl image to create a back to school card. I colored her with my alcohol markers using Karen's coloring tutorial from last Wednesday. There's still time to play along with the CCM August Challenge - so grab your free image and join in!"

"I decided to make the cute girl from the Summer Fun set really swing.  I colored my image using Prismacolor pencils and then fussy cut the image out.  I then added her to the front of the card that has this great square cut from the front so she swings in the card.  I added the piece of pattern paper behind her so she really pops.  Love seeing her really swing!!!"

"Well, I love love love summer and I'm not ready for September yet!  Hehe!  Here is another card using the Beach TIme set.  I'm off to get some last minute sun!  I colored the Beach Time image with Copic markers and I added on a super fun designed frame from Crate Paper.  I figured the card with a fun sentiment (also from the Beach Time set), and finished it up with a bow and a few blings"

"It’s never too early to start the spooky fun so here’s an older Chi Chi Memories stamp called,  Happy Halloween.  Get your spooky cards started today and check out the fun stamps form Chi Chi Memories today."

"This Friendship set is SO adorable and great to send to someone that needs a pick me up.
My image is colored with ProMarkers and as usual my card has been kept CAS. Some craft cardstock and a couple of strips of paper help to keep the image the main focus of my card. This set is a must have in my opinion!"

Melissa

"I have a birthday boy this week so it's only fitting that I create his card.  I think the Chi Chi Memories Birthday Boy stamp set is sweet! This set is loaded with great stamps to use together or individually.  I kept my card simple and used my son's favorite colors.  I wanted to use that cute rocket and added it as a little tag.  Colored with Copic Markers."

Kim

"Although Spring is over, I love the Spring Is Here set. It is so versatile and can be used for various occasions. I colored the bird in using Copic markers and matted the image onto blue cardstock. The white fiber is tied into a bow and placed on to the plaid patterned paper. I added the border punch and some yellow dew drops to pull it all together."

Coloring tutorial by Karen

Challenge-full

Today, I thought I would try my hand at another colouring tutorial for you featuring this cute freebie from ChiChi Memories called "Hello Girl".
When I first starting using Copics, my goal was to create a realistic looking Caucasian skin tone (I am working on others now too). There are many techniques out there, so this is simply one that works for me. I am all about quick and easy, so this is a technique you can use on any type of digi with different types of colouring tools too! I am using Copics, but this will work with any colouring tool that allows you to blend! Let's get to it!
Step 1

CCT31

Choose 4 colours for your skin tone. The lightest colour will the one you see the most of - the others are used for definition and shading. For Copics, consider using E00, E11, E13 and R20 (this is a pink colour I use for the cheeks).
Step 2

CCT32

Using your lightest tone (E00) colour in the entire face area.

Step 3
CCT35

Using your second tone (E11), outline the edge of the face and along the hair line. Go back to your lightest tone (E00) and blend out the line that was created in small circular motions, moving from the line in towards the middle of the face.

Step 4

CCT33

Using your darkest tone (E13), add another line around the edge of the face and hairline. Don't worry if this seems really dark...once you have the hair coloured in, this dark edge will look like a shadow. Note - I do not typically blend this colour in as I did with the second tone. I Like to have a sharper line for the shadows, but if you find this too harsh once you have coloured the hair, simply go back and blend it out.

Step 5

CCT34

Using a light pink colour (R20), colour a small circle just below and to the side of each eye.

Step 6

CCT36

Using your lightest tone (E00), use small circles to blend out the edges of the rosy circles. I will blend all the way up to the ear line, and down towards the mouth. This will give a nice flushed look to the cheeks.

Step 7

CCT37

Take a step back and admire your work. Go back and blend any spots that seem blotchy or uneven.

Step 8

CCT38

For small arms and legs, I actually start with my second tone, work darker and then work lighter. There isn't a lot of room to blend, so I find this gives me the softer look I like for arms and legs.
Using your second tone (E11), outline the edges of the arms and legs. Don't forget spots against clothing or objects.

Step 9

CCT39

Using your darkest tone (E13), outline one side of each of the arms and legs (the side furthest from the light sourse you would like to use). In this image, I wanted thelight source coming from the right side, so the left side of each arm and leg received a nice, thin line of E13. At this stage, also make sure you use the darkest tone against all clothing lines.

Step 10

CCT310

Using your lightest tone (E00), work in small circles from the outside edges into towards the centre of each arm and leg.
And there you have it!

Challenge-closeup

Experiment with different colours and tones and adding shadows in different places. It can be a lot of fun to add dimension to the face, arms and legs, so don't be afraid to play a little!
And did you know that ChiChi Memories is now hosting a monthly challenge? If you don't have digis from them yet, go and grab this cutie for free and have some fun colouring! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
